There are so many amazing places on our doorstep for you to explore. We believe a holiday here can be as relaxing or active as you wish, from staying on-site, having time at the beach, exploring stately homes or mountain biking in Dalby Forest, surfing and coasteering in Scarborough or wakeboarding and paddleboarding at Wykeham.

The Yorkshire Wolds

The Yorkshire Wolds have plenty to explore with some fantastic walks in the countryside that inspired David Hockney.

The Yorkshire Coast

We are extremely lucky to have seaside towns such as Bridlington (11 miles) and Scarborough (22 miles) close by so you can enjoy the amazing coastline and beaches the east coast has to offer.

For those looking for a bit of adventure, the coast also offers surfing and coasteering, while inland we have mountain biking and Go Ape in Dalby Forest, and water sports at Wykeham Lakes and Allerthorpe Lake.

Historic Towns & Cities

We are in a perfect location for visiting our local towns and cities with Driffield just 4 miles away, Beverley just 18 miles away, and York 32 miles away. All have lovely shops, restaurants, and activities.

Stately homes including Sledmere, Burton Agnes and Castle Howard are all close by.

Family Days Out

We also have plenty of fun for younger children with places like Piglets, Sledmere House, Playdale, Sewerby Hall and The Deep to name a few.

Suggestions of things to do within half an hour’s drive:

Driffield (4.4 miles) – shops and cafes and restaurants, parks, plus a 25m and learner swimming pool.

Burton Agnes Hall (5.6 miles) – a magnificent Elizabethan house filled with treasures collected over four centuries.  Award-winning gardens offering something for everyone.

Candy Kingdom (9 miles) – an indoor adventure play centre.

Bridlington Animal Park (9.9 miles) – Award-winning animal park with a wide range of birds and animals.

Hunmanby Gap  (10 miles) –  a beautifully non-touristy beach with café, a big expanse of golden sand and a nice 3-mile walk up the beach to Filey.

Sledmere House and Gardens (11 miles) – enjoy Sledmere’s stunning grounds, Walled Garden, rare breed farm park, adventure playground and coach house café, farm shop and Woodyard Home and Gift and Garden Store.

Wold Top Brewery Tours (11 miles) – a local award-winning family brewery that offers tours on selected days.  

Spirit of Yorkshire Distillery, Hunmanby  (11 miles) is also owned by the same family and home to Filey Bay, Yorkshire’s first Single Malt Whiskey made from field to bottle with 100% homegrown barley.  Tours of the distillery run three times a day and there is also Pot Still coffee shop.

Danes Dyke (12 miles)– a local nature reserve.

Bridlington (12 miles) – there is plenty to do in Bridlington, enjoy the beach, Bridlington Spa, bowling and cinema as well as Clip N Climb, Splash zone and swimming pool.

Fraisthorpe Beach (13 miles) – a lovely beach with a great café ‘The Cow Shed’.  Enjoy a lovely walk up the beach to Bridlington South Beach.

Sewerby Hall & Gardens with Children’s Zoo  (14 miles)  

Robert Fuller Art Gallery, Thixendale (16 miles) – a leading wildlife artist whose paintings are inspired by the secret lives of animals.

Bempton Cliffs (16 miles) – an RSPB site and home to one of the UK’s top wildlife spectacles.  Around half a million seabirds gather here between March and October to raise a family on the towering chalk cliffs. 

Wharram Percy Deserted Medieval Village, Malton (16 miles)- one of the largest and best preserved of Britain’s 3000 or so known deserted Medieval villages.

Flamborough Head (17 miles) – a stretch of white rugged cliffs and two ancient lighthouses.

Beverley (18 miles) –  a pretty market and Minster town with a selection of lovely shops, cafes, bars and restaurants.  Beverley has a range of activities for children including the Leisure Centre, cinema, Jump Inc (huge inflatable and trampoline park) and Jack in the Box (Soft Play).

Beverley Westwood (18 miles) – an open space on the edge of Beverley to enjoy, with cattle and sheep freely grazing.

Playdale Farm Park, Cayton (18 miles) – family attraction with farm animals, play areas and a cafe.

Scampston Hall & Walled Gardens, Malton (19 miles)

Let Loose, Beverley (20 miles) – Adventure park with high and low ropes, archery, a leap of faith, climbing, and soft play.

Scarborough (22 miles) –  Scarborough Castle, Sea Life Centre, beach, ten-pin bowling, surfing, coasteering.

North Yorkshire Water Park, Wykeham (23 miles) – aqua park, zip line, stand-up paddle boarding, kayaking, wakeboarding, open water swimming and café.

Allerthorpe Lake (23 miles) – lakeside café, Aqua Park, kayaking, peddles, open water swimming, play area and lakeside walks.

Eden Camp Modern History Museum, Malton (23 miles) –  will transport you back to experience the sights, sounds and smells of wartime Britain, all within the grounds of an original POW camp.

Alpamare, Scarborough (24 miles) – waterpark with four slides, a wave pool plus a spa with sauna and steam.

Williams Den (26 miles) – wide open spaces to have fun, water and sand, climb wooden structures, zip wires, explore the woodland and spend hours building dens.

Dalby Forest, Thornton Le Dale (28 miles) – within the North Yorks Moors National Park.  Go Ape, play area and picnics, endless running, walking and cycle trails (different abilities) and Gruffalo adventures.

Flamingo Land Resort, Kirby Misperton (29 miles) –  Yorkshire’s ultimate theme park attraction and zoo.

Castle Howard (29 miles) – explore the historic house, gardens and adventure playground.

Humber Bridge Country Park, Hessle (29 miles) – a 48-acre wood with open meadows and wildlife ponds, nature trails, sculptures, and bird feeding stations.

The Deep, Hull (30 miles) – huge aquarium with over 3000 creatures including sharks and sawfish.

Piglets Adventure Farm, Towthorpe (30 miles) – fun-filled family day out with activities and animals.

York (33 miles)  – York Minster, Walk the city walls, ghost walks, York Dungeons, Jorvik Viking Centre, hop on-off bus.

York Maze, York (33 miles) – the largest maze in the UK, rides, shows and attractions.

Robin Hood’s Bay, Whitby (36 miles) – picturesque old fishing village, set in a sheltered bay.

Whitby (41 miles) – connections to Captain Cook and Dracula.  It has quirky narrow streets and a bustling harbour.
